There are a lot of people that go through their lives feeling like they have no purpose. They get out of bed, go to work (many times to a job that they hate,) come home, and do it all again the next day. Many people work only for a paycheck, and simply endure until Friday… “TGIF!” But you were designed for so much more! You were created with purpose, on purpose, for a purpose! Your life is supposed to matter. Too many Christians settle for looking to “go Home one day,” and that is it. I want to go to Heaven as much as anyone, but not until I have finished my assignment on earth.
We have too much to do to settle for a boring, purpose-less existence here on earth. God is a God of excitement and adventure; just look at a sunrise or a sunset, look at an ocean tide rolling in, look at the crashing down of a waterfall, or the winds blowing across the desert sands. God is always moving, doing, creating, and speaking WITH PURPOSE! So should we.
Everyday we have the opportunity to stand in between souls and eternity; how much more exciting can you get than that? I encourage you to make decisions that cause you to step out of your comfort zone, out of the safety of the Church pew and do something with your life that has eternal weight to it. Make a decision today to not merely survive until it is your time to go to Heaven.
You may not know how to do that so let me give you 3 indicators that will let you know that you are doing something with purpose, on purpose.
#1. Do Everything You Do For The Glory Of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV) 31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
Don’t do anything just to do it. Whatever you do, do it all for HIS Glory!
#2. Do Everything You Do In The Name Of Jesus.
Colossians 3:17 (NIV) 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Get out of bed in the Name of Jesus, go to your job in the name of Jesus, and let your life be a living testimony in the Name of Jesus… “Do it all” in His Name.
#3. Do Everything You Do With All Of Your Might.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NIV) 10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.
This is a very sobering text. We are going to die, and when we do there will be no second chances. There will be no more time to do all of the things we should have done, wanted to do… meant to do. The most deadly day in the world is “someday.” “I will witness to my neighbor someday, I will step into my calling someday, I will do what I have always dreamed of doing someday…” For many people “someday” never comes. So why wait until “someday” when you can do something that really matters with your life TODAY? Whatever you do, every decision that you make, do it with all of your might.
If you will do these 3 things, then you can live your life on purpose, with purpose, for a purpose that is worth giving your life to, and you can have no regrets at the end of your journey.
